Saturday, August 18, the Berkshire Museum will showcase a variety of 2D and 3D art and design projects created by participants in its summer camp programs. Camps at the Museum encompass a wide range of subjects, from pond life to robotics. Works featured will include natural crafts, Lego engineering creations, and even stop-motion animated shorts.
Berkshire Museum: Make a Miniature Planet
This activity is offered in conjunction with this summer’s exhibition, Josh Simpson: Galactic Landscapes, on view July 14, 2018 to January 6, 2019. The exhibition, a solo show of innovative works by renowned glass artist Josh Simpson, reflects his fascination with astrophysics, deep space, and the cosmos. Exemplifying the intersection of art and science, Simpson’s experimentation with technique and materials results in extraordinary fine art glass.
Festival visitors will be able to create their own miniature planet inspired by Josh Simpson’s work. Using everyday materials, recycled supplies, and lots of imagination and creativity, participants will craft colorful cosmic orbs.
